July 25th, 2015– Five more days!

I finally got a hold of a copy of The Whole30: 30-day Guide to Total Health and Food Freedom. Not much more information than what you can find on the website, except a little more details. Plus some recipes.

Food Log:
Breakfast: I woke up wanting a Sausage Egg McMuffin ( I haven’t eaten McDonald’s since before I was pregnant), so with some inspiration from the Whole30 recipe instagram feed I made myself one.

Crispy hash browns
Crispy hash browns

Made hashbrowns in the waffle iron, so they would be crispy, added some homemade sausage to a egg, and wham bam, YUM!

Lunch: Mr. Wonderful asked for some crispy hash browns, so I made some more and add some sausage to it for me.

Dinner: Roasted Vegetables (recipe coming soon) and chicken sausage.

July 24th, 2015–Test results round 1

A month or so ago, I took a Stool Test to figure out what all my gut issues are. Saw my doctor today about the results. Other than having some low good gut bacteria, nothing was of noteworthiness.

No sign of inflammatory bowels or yeast overgrowth.

The doctor is really leaning towards SIBO.

Mr. Wonderful jokes that I should just get a colon transplant.

Well after some sleep, I am off to research SIBO.

Food Log:
Breakfast: GGS, sausage and eggs
Lunch: Enchilada salad-lettuce, green beans, enchilada sauce, ground beef, “sour cream”, and guac

Lunch Whole30 day 24

Dinner: was a disaster! We were going to grill burgers at the park, but we didn’t bring enough charcoal and they were cooked, but undercooked to my liking, and I couldn’t eat it. Luckily, I brought carrots and apple slices and some sunbutter.

July 22, 2015– No, you didn’t have a bad day.

I didn’t post yesterday, and I was going to write, how I had a “bad day” yesterday.

But then, I said, “No, you didn’t have a bad day yesterday. You stuck to Whole30, while your food choices weren’t perfect, you did not eat anything off plan. And you walked about 6 miles. You had a GOOD DAY, yesterday!”

July 21:
Breakfast: GGS, 2 HB eggs
Snack: Apple and Sunbutter
Lunch: Enchilada Stuffed Sweet Potato
Dinner: just enchilada stuffing, no sweet potato

July 22:
Breakfast: 2 HB and some sauteed veggies
Lunch: Apple Sausage, sauteed carrots, onions, and green peppers and Strawberries
Dinner: We went out, Mr. Wonderful had a rough day at work, and he came home to me crying over some damaged items from my mom. So we went out, I got a hamburger in a lettuce wrap and a side salad, I also bought my own condiments so I wasn’t eating a bland burger.

July 20th, 2015–Can I just eat some “fake” food?

Chocolate chip cookies.

Beautiful, gluten filled, Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies, made for my sister and her move in crew. I just want to enjoy one, or a few handfuls.

Instead I ate THREE BANANAS…

I still want that DAMN cookie.

I am currently debating doing the reintroduction phase… 1) This is how I already eat 75% of the time. 2) I am so done. 3) I feel lied too. Whole30, 30 days of “real food” but everyone forgets to tell you about the 10 DAY reintroduction phase, it is really the WHOLE40!

Food Log:

Breakfast: Leftover potatoes and carrots with a apple chicken sausage

Breakfast whole30 day 20
Breakfast whole30 day 20

Lunch: zoddles and meat sauce

Dinner: Slumgillion, is what we grew up calling it. Leftover roast, gravy (aka leftover mushroom soup), and the leftover potatoes and carrots. We had it over green beans.

Then I ate another serving, and 3 bananas, because I really wanted to eat chocolate chip cookies and ice cream and cheese, and rice…

How much longer and why am I doing this?

Day 18 and 19: The weekend

10 day! Just 10 whole days left!! (Well, and the 10 day reintroduction phase, boo!) I am done with this, ready to move on to the next thing. I also, really want some foods back. Menu planning now, just has me dreaming about what I want to eat on day 31… Pizza is currently winning.

Snack: banana and sunbutter (I wanted to melt some chocolate and just cover it…)
Dinner: Pot roast, potatoes and carrots. I wanted my mom’s good old fashioned pot roast, so I made a “vegan” whole30 approved cream of mushroom soup just for the roast. Mr. Wonderful, said “Now, this is a Sunday dinner. If only we weren’t poor and could afford a weekly roast.” Truth!

July 17th, 2015–OMG! WHY AM I STILL SO TIRED!!!

I have the best 2 year old in the world. (And now that I have said something, he is going to change…) For about 2 weeks now, getting up has been so hard. Mr. Z has been great though. He either plays in the bedroom, his play room, or in the bed. This morning he brought me a pair of scissors, as I still laid in bed at 8.45 unable to actually get myself out of the bed. Then he asked me to “come here! I need Life.” So I got up, put the scissors away, and gave him a bowl of cereal, and got back in bed. A few minutes later I hear his dishes clank in the sink and he comes running in saying, “I snuggle you!”. After some snuggles and giggles, I finally am awake enough to function.

I used to be a morning person. When will that come back?

Food Log:
Breakfast: Since I got up so late, I just had a smoothie, GGS.

Day 16: Over the Hump

Last night as I thought about how I am halfway done, about how I am taking charge of my life. I started looking through the Finished steps. And then decided, I shouldn’t focus too much on the next step until maybe day 25.

Also, in the last few days I have had lots of friends comment on “how skinny” I am looking. I really want to step on that scale, to see if I have lost. Staying strong and not stepping on.

I am feeling good, tiger blood, not sure yet.

I switched to having a smoothie for breakfast, because I have a supplement that my doctor wants me to take, and I had been taking it in water. Which was making me want to throw up, she suggested putting it in juice. So now I just throw it in with my greens, and no more gagging it down.

Food Log:

Breakfast: GGS, 1 hard boiled egg (Mr. Wonderful took the other one for a snack the other day, and we were running out the door, so 1 was better than no protein)

Lunch: Leftover enchilada casserole

Snack: Apple and sunbutter

Dinner: Leftover Pork Chops and green beans

Day 13, 14, and 15

I did a great job of catching up after I got back, but then life happened. The 15th is anniversary of my mom’s death and I have been trying to keep busy.

Monday July 13
Breakfast: 2 hard boiled eggs, GGS
Lunch: Coop turkey lettuce wrap sandwich with tomato, cucumbers, red onion, and avocado (I asked lots questions, and everything was whole30 approved)

Lunch Whole30 day 13
Lunch Whole30 day 13

Dinner: sloppy joes, zoodles, sweet potatoes fries, and paleo ketchup

Dinner whole30 day 13

Tuesday July 14
Breakfast: woke up late and skipped it
Lunch: romaine and sloppy joe stuff
Snack: apple and sunbutter, I only got half, Mr. Z “shared” with me.
Dinner: enchilada casserole from A Girl Worth Saving’s cookbook. I used my spiralizer, since I don’t have a mandolin to make long zucchini noodles. I just pulled the zucchini across the flat blade as if it was a mandolin. Used the left over enchilada sauce from last week, and left over chicken from some other meals. It was delish! We also had it with steamed carrots and some paleo sour cream.

Wednesday, July 15th
Breakfast: GGS, Prosciutto, and 2 eggs scrambled
Lunch: Left over enchilada casserole
Dinner: Pork chops with mushroom gravy and green beans, Mr. Wonderful, who is not a steak or pork chop fan, said, that this was the best pork chop he ever had and that I can make it again!

Day 12- Psychological holds

The whole30 timeline says that these are the hardest days.that you need to start addressing the “physiological hold food has on you”.

I like food. I enjoy shopping for food. I enjoy preparing, cooking, and eating food. I don’t really enjoy the clean up or the digestion parts.

I like fancy shmancy meals. I enjoy desserts.

Breakfast is probably favorite meal to make.

Food is a big deal in our lives. It brings people together.

It can nourish your body, mind and soul.

Lately, I have been craving pizza, Gardetto’s and ice cream.

I decided to put together a list of foods I want to eat post whole30.  Check it out here.

Food Log: Traveled back home after a late breakfast and lunch with friends.

Breakfast: Hashbrowns, and homemade sausgae

Lunch: hand cut fries, lettuce wrap burger with tomato, red onions, pickles

Snack: carrots, cucumber, olives

Dinner: 2 eggs scrambled, caramelized onions, and bacon

Day 10 and 11–Wedding prep and Wedding Day

I was able to do basic food logs on my wordpress app on my phone, now that we are home I will edit and post them for you.

Friday, July 10th- The bridesmaids got together and had lunch with the bride and got mani/pedis

Breakfast: Glowing Green Smoothie from Kimberly Synder (it is heavy on the greens, but I love it), 2 eggs in evoo. At a friend’s house for the weekend, and I was able to bring my blender and not have to eat out every meal.

Breakfast whole30 day 10
Breakfast whole30 day 10

Lunch: We went to Red Robin and after asking a billion questions I had a very bland , hamburger patty (no seasoning) with a side salad (no dressing).

Lunch Whole30 day 10
Lunch Whole30 day 10

Dinner: I forgot at take a picture, but I made Nom Nom paleo’s Chicken Prosciutto Involtini and some marinara. I had some zucchini with it, while everyone else had pasta.

Saturday, July 11-Wedding day!

Breakfast: GGS, 2 eggs with two slices of prosciutto

Lunch: romaine, kalua pork, cucumbers,  fruit kabobs.  I also snacked on fruit kabobs throughout the reception. All the food looked so good! And I got put in charge of cutting the cake, good thing I don’t really like cake or frosting!

Dinner: My friends husband made stir fry for dinner and for me, he made me a safe stir fry! It was spicy, and delicious! He was great and would ask about every ingredient.
