July 17th, 2015–OMG! WHY AM I STILL SO TIRED!!!

 

I have the best 2 year old in the world. (And now that I have said something, he is going to change…) For about 2 weeks now, getting up has been so hard. Mr. Z has been great though. He either plays in the bedroom, his play room, or in the bed. This morning he brought me a pair of scissors, as I still laid in bed at 8.45 unable to actually get myself out of the bed. Then he asked me to “come here! I need Life.” So I got up, put the scissors away, and gave him a bowl of cereal, and got back in bed. A few minutes later I hear his dishes clank in the sink and he comes running in saying, “I snuggle you!”. After some snuggles and giggles, I finally am awake enough to function.

I used to be a morning person. When will that come back?

Day 16: Over the Hump

 

Last night as I thought about how I am halfway done, about how I am taking charge of my life. I started looking through the Finished steps. And then decided, I shouldn’t focus too much on the next step until maybe day 25.

Also, in the last few days I have had lots of friends comment on “how skinny” I am looking. I really want to step on that scale, to see if I have lost. Staying strong and not stepping on.

I am feeling good, tiger blood, not sure yet.

I switched to having a smoothie for breakfast, because I have a supplement that my doctor wants me to take, and I had been taking it in water. Which was making me want to throw up, she suggested putting it in juice. So now I just throw it in with my greens, and no more gagging it down.

Breakfast: GGS, 1 hard boiled egg (Mr. Wonderful took the other one for a snack the other day, and we were running out the door, so 1 was better than no protein)

Day 13, 14, and 15

I did a great job of catching up after I got back, but then life happened. The 15th is anniversary of my mom’s death and I have been trying to keep busy.

Lunch: Coop turkey lettuce wrap sandwich with tomato, cucumbers, red onion, and avocado (I asked lots questions, and everything was whole30 approved)

Tuesday July 14
Breakfast: woke up late and skipped it
Lunch: romaine and sloppy joe stuff
Snack: apple and sunbutter, I only got half, Mr. Z “shared” with me.
Dinner: enchilada casserole from A Girl Worth Saving’s cookbook. I used my spiralizer, since I don’t have a mandolin to make long zucchini noodles. I just pulled the zucchini across the flat blade as if it was a mandolin. Used the left over enchilada sauce from last week, and left over chicken from some other meals. It was delish! We also had it with steamed carrots and some paleo sour cream.

 

Wednesday, July 15th
Breakfast: GGS, Prosciutto, and 2 eggs scrambled
Lunch: Left over enchilada casserole
Dinner: Pork chops with mushroom gravy and green beans, Mr. Wonderful, who is not a steak or pork chop fan, said, that this was the best pork chop he ever had and that I can make it again!

Day 12- Psychological holds

The whole30 timeline says that these are the hardest days.that you need to start addressing the “physiological hold food has on you”.

I like food. I enjoy shopping for food. I enjoy preparing, cooking, and eating food. I don’t really enjoy the clean up or the digestion parts.

I like fancy shmancy meals. I enjoy desserts.

Breakfast is probably favorite meal to make.

Food is a big deal in our lives. It brings people together.

It can nourish your body, mind and soul.

Lately, I have been craving pizza, Gardetto’s and ice cream.

Food Log: Traveled back home after a late breakfast and lunch with friends.

Breakfast: Hashbrowns, and homemade sausgae

Lunch: hand cut fries, lettuce wrap burger with tomato, red onions, pickles

Snack: carrots, cucumber, olives

Dinner: 2 eggs scrambled, caramelized onions, and bacon

Day 10 and 11–Wedding prep and Wedding Day

I was able to do basic food logs on my wordpress app on my phone, now that we are home I will edit and post them for you.

Friday, July 10th- The bridesmaids got together and had lunch with the bride and got mani/pedis

Breakfast: Glowing Green Smoothie from Kimberly Synder (it is heavy on the greens, but I love it), 2 eggs in evoo. At a friend’s house for the weekend, and I was able to bring my blender and not have to eat out every meal.

Lunch: We went to Red Robin and after asking a billion questions I had a very bland , hamburger patty (no seasoning) with a side salad (no dressing).

Dinner: I forgot at take a picture, but I made Nom Nom paleo’s Chicken Prosciutto Involtini and some marinara. I had some zucchini with it, while everyone else had pasta.

Saturday, July 11-Wedding day!

Breakfast: GGS, 2 eggs with two slices of prosciutto

Lunch: romaine, kalua pork, cucumbers,  fruit kabobs.  I also snacked on fruit kabobs throughout the reception. All the food looked so good! And I got put in charge of cutting the cake, good thing I don’t really like cake or frosting!

Dinner: My friends husband made stir fry for dinner and for me, he made me a safe stir fry! It was spicy, and delicious! He was great and would ask about every ingredient.

Snack: lots of late eating this weekend, kalua pork, and cucumbers.

 

July 9th- travel day

On the road, heading straight to Seattle for a baseball game. Packed a cooler of, frozen kalua pork from yesterday, cucumbers, carrots, oranges, bananas, olives, epic bars, and cashews.

I also brought my blender, so I can make green smoothies for breakfast.

I will stick on plan.

Food log:

Breakfast: leftover smoothie from yesterday, and a little of a bit of sausage.

Lunch: oranges, banana, turkey epic bar, cucumbers, and olives.

Dinner: New York steak, salt and pepper, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers. We stopped at a little dinner before the baseball game. The server was very helpful at helping me find something compliant.

July 8th-blah

Blah, blarg, blah.

That’s how I feel today.

Food log:

Breakfast: I am sick of eggs. Green smoothie: hemp hearts, avocado, romaine, water, mango, banana, orange. (Split it 3 ways, saved some for tomorrow and gave some to the kiddo)

Lunch: Enchilada stuffed sweet potato, I might be eating this often.

Snack: grapes and oranges

Dinner: I made a big batch of Kalua Pork to take with us this weekend, we also had it for dinner, along with some leftovers to clean out the fridge. I had mine over some lettuce, green beans, and smokey sweet potatoes, and topped with some guacamole and “cashew cream”.

July 7th, 2015– One Week and I just want to quit!

I didn’t want to get up. I am grumpy. It’s hot. It’s also that time of the month. And I want to just feed my carb and sugar “dragon”. I want to give up, and just say, well I gave it 7 days.

No, motivational turn today, I just am going to push through.

July 6th, 2015–Grocery shopping for Week two

Week two menu made, grocery list is made. And a plan for our trip this weekend. We leave Thursday, drive across the desert, straight into Seattle for a baseball game with my family, last minute wedding prep Friday, wedding Saturday, and then we drive back Sunday.

I am a little nervous. We are staying a friend of mine from college house. She is gluten-free and understands what I am trying to do. I am planning on bringing stuff to eat, and then to make sack lunches and dinners for the day before we head out for family stuff.

This is the only huge hurdle I think I will have, and I know that it is recommended to not do a Whole30 when traveling, but I didn’t want to wait. I just felt like I was making up excuses. And if I actually have to eat this way for the rest of my life, I better get used to traveling. (I know I won’t have to eat this way, I will be able to have paleo breads, but still.)
